Does Medicare Cover Dental Care?

Medicare and dental coverage is tricky.  Original Medicare was not designed to cover routine dental care that many employer health insurance plans cover.  Even so, Medicare advantage plans and stand-alone dental plans are two ways to work around Medicare and dental care coverage issues.  Both require work to find the best option for you.  Both require attention to the details.

Medicare Advantage plans - Most all Medicare advantage plans offer a dental care coverage benefit but there are big differences among the plans. It is very important to compare dental networks, maximum annual benefit, fee schedules, copayments, frequency limits, and preventive vs major procedures before choosing aMedicare advantage plan. A spreadsheet would help.

Stand-alone dentals plans - There are many stand-alone dental plans, for example Delta Dental, to choose from. Again, it is very important to compare dental networks, premiums, deductible’s, maximum annual benefit, and preventive vs major procedures coverage before choosing a stand-along dental insurance plan.

Finding the right dental care coverage for you can be a daunting process. But as dental health is important to your health, I can help you compare dental care coverage options to find the best fit for you.

“Good dental care is an important part of maintaining your overall health.”
